An idea is born

They say necessity is the mother of all inventions. Our journey started the same way. It was 2020 and the world came to a halt, hit by the pandemic with the future looking extremely scary  certain. The family’s tourism business came to a halt, with no visibility of when it would resume, I fever. This left us in a financially difficult situation.

Locked up at home, we brainstormed many ideas and rejected most of them. Madhu had just finished trying a new pickle recipe and suggested we find a way of marketing her pickles that the family loved and always raved about. Challenge here was that Madhu, though very active, was 70 years old and we were not sure if she could handle the pressure of a commercial setup. But here willingness to support her family during the crisis instilled us with the confidence to take the plunge. And so, our home-based business began.

New businesses face challenges under normal circumstances, in a lockdown, those challenges sometimes felt insuremountable. We had to figure out the right sources for the ingredients, equipment, licenses, and permissions. Our perseverance through all the obstacles paid off and our products slowly but surely started gaining popularity.

Our first few customers were friends and family and then slowly orders started trickling in from their networks. Word of mouth became our biggest marketing tool .We ensured the quality of our products was top class. We did our best to provide excellent customer service and the customers kept coming back. Our journey started three years ago and despite some ups and downs, we have seen a steady growth in our business.

Our focus has also been on empowering the women who were struggling like us during the pandemic. Most of our employees are women. We try and source ingredients from small farmers and do our bit to support the local economy
